For drivers in Mechanicsburg, Fred Beans Ford has compared the Ford F-150 vs. Chevy Silverado side by side to compare all the features and capabilities. Read more about the differences between these two trucks and learn where you can go to test drive the winning vehicle.

Ford vs Chevy: Performance

The Ford F-150 offers many engine choices for 2019. Drivers can choose from a high-output 3.5L EcoBoost® V6 engine, which produces 450 horsepower and 510 lb-ft of torque, a 2.7L EcoBoost® V6, which produces 325 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque, and the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6, which produces 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. For additional performance, the 3.3L Ti-VCT V6, which produces 290 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque, and the 5.0L Ti-VCT V8, which produces 395 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque are also available.

The Silverado 1500 offers a 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine, which produces 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque, a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine, which produces 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque and is also available with Dynamic Fuel Management technology, and a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine, which produces 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque.

Not only does the F-150 offer more engine options, but it also has the most powerful engine in both lineups, and each engine out-muscles the comparable Silverado engine. The advanced powertrain lineup contributes to the F-150's best-in-class payload and exceptional towing capabilities. It also offers a diesel option, which isn't available for the Silverado 1500.

Technology

The Ford F-150 received a 5-star overall safety rating by the NHTSA. It received some advanced safety features, such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Warning with Brake Support, and BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert, in past years, as well as Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, and stop-and-go traffic cruising for the cruise control. The F-150 also included some advanced guidance systems and safety features that make hauling and towing faster, easier and safer.

The Silverado 1500 scored well in the NHTSA's crash tests but didn't perform as well as the F-150 on the Rollover Resistance test. It also offers many of the available advanced safety features on the market, but they are optional for only the higher trim levels. There is also a guidance system a part of the rear-vision camera of the 2019 Silverado 1500.
