2021 Ford F-150 vs Chevy Silverado: Performance

Here, we'll be taking a close inspection at what's available under the hoods of both the Ford F-150 and the Chevy Silverado. We'll start with the specs of the F-150.

One of the highest performing engines for the F-150 owner is the 3.5L PowerBoostâ„¢ Full Hybrid V6, which offers exceptional power ratings and is a great option for drivers who wants to leave an eco-friendly footprint when they take to the road. The engine has 430 horsepower and 570 lb-ft of torque.

On the other hand, the Silverado has an option to equip a 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine, which is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. While it is a workhorse of an engine, its power ratings of 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque falls short of the F-150's 3.5L PowerBoostâ„¢ engine's power ratings.

Both trucks offer up to six different engines to choose from. The base engines for both trucks produce over 200 horsepower and quickly gains from there. However, keep in mind that these different engines all function differently depending on their accessories or the type of fuel used.

2021 Ford F-150 vs Chevy Silverado: Towing Capacities

The 2021 F-150 has been awarded for being best in class when it comes to towing. It stands to reason it'll dominate in this category. When we look over the stats for the Silverado and its engines and maximum towing capacity, we see them fall short of the F-150. Of their six total engines, only one manages to generate torque of about 400 lb-ft.

Looking at the F-150, five of its six engines break 400 lb-ft of torque and beyond, which becomes important when you want to know how this truck can haul what you need. While other engines offer potent power, what you want to go for is the 3.5L EcoBoost® V6. It generates 500 lb-ft of torque and, when properly equipped, has a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds.

The Silverado doesn't quite match the maximum towing capacity of the F-150. When properly equipped, the EcoTec3 engine can reach a maximum towing capacity of 13,300 pounds.

2021 Ford F-150 vs Chevy Silverado: Infotainment

It's more necessary than ever to stay connected while on the road, and the Ford F-150 delivers on that. The infotainment system is contained within a center stack that's visualized on an 8-inch screen. It works in conjunction with the SYNC® 4 technology-the most advanced version to be rolled out. With Bluetooth® integrated into the system, making calls to friends or messaging colleagues is even easier and safer.

Thanks to FordPassâ„¢ Connect, along with a subscription plan with AT&T, you are able to turn your F-150 into a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 simultaneously connected devices up to 50 feet from the vehicle. You can also use FordPassâ„¢ Connect to check your data usage and other nifty features related to your Ford.

On the other hand, the Silverado comes equipped with the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System, which has a lot of overlap with the SYNC® 4 package. It does include a color touchscreen, but again, depending on the trim you choose, the size of the screen may change. It also uses Bluetooth® technology, similar to the F-150.

Now that you've had a moment to read this review, we feel you'll agree when we announce the Ford F-150 to be the superior vehicle. With its monstrous torque and towing strength that allows you to get those long-haul jobs dome seamlessly, this can be a great option for your next truck.
