If you need a mid-size family sedan that is both functional and fabulous, you'll want to consider both the 2014 Ford Fusion and the Mazda6. While both vehicles are family-centric and fun to drive, after you do your due diligence on each vehicle and test drive both, one clearly outshines the other.
Fusion vs. Mazda6Â Exteriors
Perhaps the first thing everyone notices about the sleek exterior of the 2014 Ford Fusion is its overall European essence, replete with a head-turning, Aston Martin-like grille. From the sharp wheel designs, interesting colorpalette, choice of eight trims, 21st century EasyFuel "capless" gas filler system, and sharp headlights, it immediately exudes the feeling of a high-end luxury car. Like the Ford Fusion, the Mazda6 also impresses mid-size sedan shoppers with its voluptuous curves, dramatic styling, and fun-to-drive handling. Based on the renowned Takeri concept car, the Japanese designers purposefully paid lots of attention to the long hood, user-friendly width, bold front end replete with Mazda's widely-recognizable "winged" badge, and a rearward-set windshield.

Fusion vs. Mazda6 Interiors
The 2014 Ford Fusion's interior is quite impressive as well. With all of the standard and optional features, it leaves nothing to be desired. With a reverse-sensing system to forewarn you if you're about to hit the neighbor's bicycle left in your driveway; the Active Park Assist to make parallel parking a breeze; a multi-warning Lane Keeping System for those long road trips; an adaptive cruise control; a blind-spot monitoring system; and a high-tech, user-friendly navigation system, it's easy to see why many of the options become "must haves" for safety, comfort, and convenience. The eight different trims offer different features. You can opt for the model that includes climate control; 16-, 17-, or 18-inch wheels; a driver-friendly tilt/telescoping steering wheel; a head-bopping 4-speaker AM/FM/CD player (with auxiliary input); leather seats; a rearview camera; a turbocharged engine; a voice-controlled communication system; and more! As if all that weren't enough to make you visit the Fred Beans Ford of Mechanicsburg dealership today, this year's new Ford Fusion is also available with optional inflatable seatbelts for outboard rear passengers, ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel, making those family road trips (whether to the corner store for a gallon of milk or to the Outer Banks for a week in the sun) so very enjoyable.
Like the Ford Fusion, the Mazda6 also demonstrates an attention to detail - though most of it for the Mazda6 owner is driver-focused (including the cool cluster of conveniently located instruments, gauges, and knobs). The base model Mazda6 comes with lots of features, including a 6-way adjustable driver's seat, 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, push-button start, power windows, cruise control, an automatic headlight shutoff, and power-operated side-view mirrors. Options include a 5.8-inch in-dash touchscreen multi-controlling system, Bluetooth, an 11-speaker Bose System, and a speech recognition system, among others.
Fusion vs. Mazda6 Pricing
Depending upon what you select from the all-encompassing options buffet, you can get your family into a 2014 Ford Fusion for as little as $23,000 or into a totally loaded, all-wheel drive Fusion for $40,000+. The MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) for the Mazda6 is $21,000 with the fully loaded model priced at about $30,000. Although the top-of-the-line Mazda6 is approximately $10,000 less than that of the Ford Fusion, the significance in quality, features, and family friendliness is significant enough to seriously consider the Ford Fusion. In addition, the Mazda6 does not hold its value, and both its resale value and trade-in worth are unimpressive.
