Summer is the perfect time of year to go on all sorts of driving adventures.

That said, it's also a good time to take a good look at your tires to see how they're holding up.

The Importance of Adequate Tread

Your car's ability to gain traction on the road, particularly in inclement weather, is directly related to the tread on your tires.

If your tires are too worn down, you could find yourself slipping around a lot more. You might also discover that your driver-assist features don't work as well.

Driving on worn tires also damages fuel efficiency and creates a risk for tire blowouts, putting yourself and others in danger.

Checking the State of Your Tires

To test your tires, use a penny to measure tread depth.

Find the point on your tires where the tread seems the most worn and slip the penny in head-first.

If Abe's head is covered, your tires still have adequate tread. If not, your tires need to be replaced as soon as possible.

Maintenance is Key

Bring your car to our service department for regular tire rotations and wheel alignments to help get the most out of your tires. We'll be happy to help!
