The mechanical engineering in the Ford Explorer enables its powerful presence on the road. When properly configured, the 3.0L EcoBoost® V6 engine roars to life with 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. This enables the Explorer to hitch a trailer with your large equipment and tow up to 5,600 pounds. As you tow, the Trailer Sway Control secures your trailer for more security on the road.

The 10-speed automatic transmission efficiently transfers the engine's energy, so you can accelerate smoothly down the highway. The available Intelligent 4-Wheel Drive enhances the powertrain and brakes to give your wheels more traction in varying conditions. Also available is the Hill Descent Control™ system to ease down a hill securely.

2021 Explorer Dimensions and Space

One of the top benefits from SUVs is the spacious interiors. The Explorer is roomy enough for its seven passengers and your luggage. The total passenger volume of 152.7 cubic feet lets riders stretch out in the seat.

When you have large items to load, you'll have 87.8 cubic feet of cargo space available behind the first row. The third-row seats feature a 50/50 split fold, while the second row sports a 35/30/35 split fold. The sizable interior found in the Ford Explorer allows you to easily bring your loved ones and equipment along for the journey.

Once everyone is inside the Explorer, they'll find plenty of comforts within the interior design. Riders can adjust their area to their preferred climate settings, thanks to the Tri-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control system. You'll find a total of three 12V power outlets to keep your batteries topped off. An available twin-panel moonroof gives passengers a glimpse into the sky from the comfort of their seats.

The second row features extra available options for enhanced comfort. Available heated bucket seats let riders have their own space while staying warm for winter travel. The available second-row console gives even more storage space in a durable frame. This console is built low to allow for easy access to the third row.
