Powertrain Performance & Engine Specs

To get started, let's head right under the hood of the 2020 Ford Escape.

• Standard 1.5L EcoBoost® Engine

The standard 1.5L EcoBoost® engine with Auto Start-Stop Technology helps you save on fuel by automatically shutting off the engine when your vehicle comes to a stop. It will automatically start up again as soon as you release your foot from the brake pedal. This is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

• Available 2.0L EcoBoost® Engine

This engine also comes with the Auto Start-Stop Technology found in the previous engine. It's also paired with an 8-speed SelectShift® automatic transmission, which provides the sporty feel of a manual transmission while acting as an automatic transmission. Additionally, you'll be able to tow up to 3,500 pounds when properly equipped with the Class II Trailer Tow Package.

• Available Hybrid 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-Cycle I-4 Engine

This engine is standard on all 2020 Escape Hybrid and plug-in hybrid trims. It doesn't take up room in the cargo area like previous hybrid engine batteries. Instead, it's stored in the floor area of the second-row seats.

• Available Plug-In 2.5L iVCT Atkinson-Cycle I-4 Engine

With this engine, it'll take about 10 to 11 hours to fully charge the battery using a 110-volt level 1 charger, and about 3.5 hours to fully charge using a 240-volt level 2 charger. Again, the battery is stored underneath the vehicle.

Innovative Driver-Assisting Technology Features

The 2020 Escape comes with a plethora of driver-assisting safety technologies created to be a second set of eyes on the road.

The standard Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking system helps you avoid or mitigate collisions by alerting you when you're quickly approaching vehicles in front of you. It can also help apply braking pressure in the event of an emergency.

With the standard BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert, you'll be able to back up with confidence. It'll alert you if there's a pedestrian, object, or vehicle obstructing your path. The standard Rear View Camera also helps with backing up and parallel parking, because it will provide a clear live display of what's going on behind you.
