2013 Ford E-250 Extended Cab The Ford E-250 series vans are equipped with a 4.6 L Triton V-8 under the hood. One can upgrade to the optional 5.4 L Triton V-8 if desired. The standard engine is rated at 225 hp, while the bigger V-8 is rated at 255 hp. Both are flex-fuel engines capable of running on both gasoline and E-85, a blend of 15 percent ethanol and 85 percent gas. Additionally, E-250 extended vans can be outfitted with CNG/LNG capability. The engine is mated to a four-speed automatic transmission. Â The standard engine is EPA-rated at 17 mpg on the highway and 13 mpg in the city. The larger 5.4 L engine does almost as well. It is highway-rated at 17 mpg and city-rated at 12 mpg. Â E-series vans are rear-wheel drive vehicles that benefit from both traction control and stability control with roll-over detection.
